‘Bakwit’

Once a week I try to visit displaced families. This week, I went to an evacuation center in Bayanihan Gym, Sta. Elena, Iligan City.

For several months. the gym has provided shelter to our Muslim brothers and sisters who have fled their homes in Marawi after extremists took over their city.

I usually bring books but I was rushing when I flew out two days and sadly didn’t bring any. But we made up for this with the young evacuees through storytelling and by using our creativity and imagination. I promised to bring books, papers, pens, crayons, and balls on my next visit.
